At Penguin Swim School, we pride ourselves on being one of Singapore's most flexible and parent-friendly swim schools. Our structured yet adaptable programmes run at public and private pools, delivered by certified instructors focused on water safety, confidence, and lifelong swimming skills. These Terms and Conditions set clear expectations for smooth operations and a great learning experience.
1) Reservations & Payment
Class slots are held for five (5) days after an expression of interest. Booking is confirmed only upon full payment for a one-time trial or the selected lesson package. Payments via PayNow or bank transfer only. Invoices are issued via WhatsApp or email and must be settled within seven (7) days or before the first lesson, whichever is earlier. Lesson packages are payable in advance. Late payment may result in class suspension; invoices unpaid after 30 days may be subject to legal action.
2) Lesson Types & Package Validity
Package validity: A one-time trial is valid for two (2) weeks. An 8-lesson package is valid for twelve (12) weeks, a 24-lesson package is valid for thirty-six (36) weeks, and a 48-lesson package is valid for seventy-two (72) weeks.
Group Lessons (not privately formed): Conducted weekly; no trial classes. No make-ups for missed sessions, but a private make-up may be arranged at extra cost. All lessons must be completed within the validity period of the purchased package.
Private Lessons & Privately Formed Groups: Offer flexibility in scheduling. One-time trials are available at separate cost. All lessons must be completed within the validity period of the purchased package, subject to notice and coach availability.
3) Cancellations, Make-ups & Extensions
Private & Privately-Formed Groups: Minimum two (2) hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Any rescheduled lesson must be completed within the relevant package validity period. For medical absences, submit valid documentation; any extension is subject to management approval.
Group (not privately formed): No make-ups for missed sessions. A private make-up may be arranged at additional cost, subject to coach availability, and must be completed within the relevant package validity period.
4) Weather, Safety & Venue Rules
Lessons continue in light rain. During unsafe conditions (e.g. lightning, high PSI), sessions may switch to land drills in a sheltered area. Condominiums: provide at least two (2) hours' notice to cancel due to weather. If the coach has arrived at the venue, the lesson is considered completed. Rescheduling (when allowed) must be completed within the relevant package validity period, subject to coach availability.
5) Risk Acknowledgement & Parental Supervision
Swimming carries inherent risks. While we uphold strong safety standards, participation is at your own risk. Students must follow instructor guidance and pool rules. For students under 12 years old, a parent/guardian must be present at the pool during the lesson. Parents/guardians must declare any medical conditions at registration or as they arise.
6) Coach Assignment, External Engagement & Conduct
Coaches are assigned based on availability and student fit. Clients are not permitted to engage our instructors outside Penguin Swim School. Breaches may result in service termination. Respectful conduct is required. Disruptive behaviour or refusal to follow safety instructions may lead to removal without refund.
7) Photography, Media & Instructor Credentials
Photos/videos may be taken during lessons for training or promotional use. If you prefer to opt out, inform us in writing before your first lesson. All instructors are certified by recognised bodies (e.g. SSI, AUSTSWIM, NROC, STA, ASCTA, Red Cross, YMCA, SLSS) and hold current CPR/AED/First Aid (SRFAC-recognised). Instructors receive regular internal training aligned with the Penguin Method, SwimSafer, and SSI frameworks.
8) Liability, Refunds & Administrative Changes
We are not responsible for lost or damaged belongings. Refunds: all lesson fees are strictly non-refundable. Exceptional cases may be considered at our sole discretion (for example, long-term medical conditions with supporting documentation). When discontinuing, please provide advance notice to help us plan schedules and coach assignments. Requests to change lesson times/venues must be submitted via WhatsApp (+65 8909 4656); changes are subject to coach availability. If no immediate change is possible, students may be wait-listed.
9) Illness Policy
Students who are unwell (e.g. flu, fever) should not attend lessons. Long-term illnesses must be reported as soon as possible. Any medical conditions must be declared at registration or when identified.
10) Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.
