Our Preschool Swim Programme is specially crafted for children aged 4 to 6 years old. Designed to build strong foundational swim techniques, this premium swim programme in Singapore combines play-based learning with progressive water safety and stroke development. Taught by experienced instructors using the SSI framework, each session at Penguin Swim School helps young learners become confident and independent in the water.
Preschool I (4–5 years)
Prerequisites: None
Parent Participation: Not required
Overview:
Preschool I introduces essential swim skills through fun, age-appropriate activities. Children will gain water confidence, learn to float, submerge, kick, and start basic arm movements — all through songs, toys, and games that encourage exploration.
Key Highlights:
Blowing bubbles and face floats with breath control
Back floats with teacher support, progressing to 10 counts
Kick and glide with large barbell or kickboard
Tagging arms and early windmill drills on deck and in water
Toy retrieval and island games to build underwater confidence
Final Goals:
Swim 3 metres using windmill arms
Perform assisted rollover breath
10 count independent back float
Preschool II (5–6 years)
Prerequisites: Swim 3 metres with windmill arms, assisted rollover breath, 10 count back float
Parent Participation: Not required
Overview:
Preschool II focuses on developing stronger swimming techniques and improving water safety. Swimmers will be introduced to back glide, streamline positions, rollover breathing, and early backstroke and breaststroke drills to prepare for beginner-level classes.
Key Highlights:
Streamline kick up to 6 metres using kickboard or barbell
One-arm and tagging-arm freestyle drills to build technique
Back glides and introduction to elementary backstroke
Independent rollover breathing and swim resumption
Whip kick fundamentals for future breaststroke skills
Standing dives with streamline entry
Final Goals:
Swim 6 metres using windmill arms with independent rollover breath
